A Francophone Location in North America – Que?bec City If one walks in the downtown area of Que?bec City, one would swear that one is somewhere in a small old French Village. The streets are narrow, the buildings seem to have been constructed a long time ago, and all the signs are in French.

When I arrived at my hotel, I went to the reception desk and I addressed the hotel clerk in French because I wanted to practice my French. La ligne d'horizon du centre-ville est dominée par un grand et élégant h?tel, le Chateau Frontenac. Cet h?tel est un des plus célèbres sites de Québec. Un batiment massif, qui compte plus de six cents chambres, c'est l'h?tel le plus photographié au monde. C'est là qu'a eu lieu la Conférence de Québec en 1943 ; le président des états-Unis, Franklin Roosevelt, et le premier ministre du Royaume-Uni, Winston Churchill, s'y sont retrouvés pour discuter de leur stratégie commune pour la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Cela vaut vraiment le détour et votre séjour à Québec ne serait pas complet sans le visiter.
The skyline of the downtown area is dominated by a large and elegant hotel, Le Cha?teau Frontenac. This hotel is one of the most famous sites in Que?bec City. A massive building which has more than six hundred rooms, it is the most photographed hotel in the world. It is here that the Conference of Quebec took place in 1943; the president of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt, and the prime minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, met to discuss their common strategy for the Second World War. It is really worth a detour and your stay in Que?bec City would not be complete without visiting it.

Le centre-ville, aussi connu sous le nom de vieux Québec, est le site de l'ancienne ville fortifiée qui surplombe le fleuve Saint-Laurent. On peut toujours voir les anciens remparts qui s'étendent sur 5 km autour de la vieille ville. Une après-midi, j'ai suivi une visite guidée de la Citadelle de Québec, une installation militaire et la résidence officielle du Gouverneur Général du Canada, le représentant officiel de la Reine, Elizabeth II.
Parce que la Citadelle se situe au plus haut point de la ville, la vue du fleuve et des alentours est super belle et vaut l'effort ! Notre guide nous a dit que cette visite avec nous était son premier tour en anglais. à la fin du tour, tous les membres du groupe l'ont remerciée et lui ont dit qu'elle avait fait un bon boulot parce que c'était vrai !
The downtown area, also known by the name Old Que?bec City, is the site of a former fortified town which overlooks the Saint Lawrence River. One can still see the old ramparts which extend for 5 km around the old city. One afternoon, I took a guided tour of the Citadel of Que?bec, a military installation and the residence of the Governor General of Canada, the official representative of the Queen, Elizabeth II. Because the Citadel is located at the highest point of the city, the view of the river and the surroundings is really great and worth the effort! Our guide told us that this tour with us was her first tour in English. At the end of the tour, everyone in the group thanked her and told her that she had done a great job because it was true!

Un des délices gastronomiques qu'on doit tenter pendant une visite à Québec est la tire d'érable. C'est une confiserie qui est préparé en versant le sirop d'érable bouillant sur une planche de neige. Alors que le sirop chaud refroidi, une spatule en bois est utilisée pour enrouler la confiserie molle et pour faire une sucette.
C'est délicieux !
One of the gastronomic delights that one must try during a visit to Que?bec is the maple taffy. This is a confection that is made while pouring boiling maple syrup onto a bed of snow. As the hot syrup cools, a wooden spatula is used to roll-up the soft confection and produce a lollypop. They are delicious!
在魁北克旅行中一定要尝试的一个美食就是槭糖。这是一种将煮沸的槭糖汁浇在白板上做成的一种糖果。当糖冷却后，用一个木制铲刀将软软的糖卷起来做成棒糖。
